More layers of paint along with plenty more detail to do yet. This is still the underpainting stage. I really enjoy this part of the process when you start to see how well you have weighted the carved detail in relation to the painted detail. I learn from every piece I do. Slowly but surely the detail in these stunning flowers is coming together. The beautiful red colour is impossible to render in this digital image. There being so much more to the artists pigments when viewed directly, never the less I hope it brightens your day a little. It has been an interesting challenge to paint a subject that already looks a bit like it is painted. Still plenty of work to do until I am satisfied. My best wishes to you all. Enjoy.
