Well that’s another week. I hope my posts give a little sanity or enjoyment not to mention wildlife conservation education. My best wishes to you all and a mention to those good people doing their bit for mental health awareness, you know who you are, a great effort.
The foliage painting stage for this piece has now been blocked in and is a relatively quick process. Already the colours are interacting with the illusion of jungle leaves in a three dimensional space with the blue background showing through in the carved out areas. I hope to further enhance this illusion with different nuances of light on the leaves, highlight and shadow and coloration.

Some more progress with the gorilla blocked in and the foliage worked up a little more. I hope you all have had a good week. I will work on the gorilla next week and hopefully finish all the foliage.

It is that time of the week for another progress picture. Here the personalities of the various gorilla are starting to interact with each other. This is the stage I most look forward to as the animals come alive and hopefully match the original concept of a family group of gorilla in the mountain forest. The blend between carved and painted becoming one.I wish you all well, and I hope you enjoy.
