Studio Update

Another progress picture. Here you can see I’m still working up the background colours of the painting. The complex of branches in the background have been worked up a little more. I will focus next on getting the lighting to look a little more accurate on the guineafowl and the forground before any detailed work. I hope you enjoy the progress. Despite the rowdy reputation of the guineafowl I think they are a stunning bird when you take the time to really look at them closely. The challenge of the intricate pattern on their feathers is challenging enough let alone the dappled light cast across the birds in this painting.

This week has been more steady progress working on refining the colour that has been blocked in previously. I have concentrated mainly on the textured layer of the grassy forground and also the guineafowl themselves.Even at this stage I am resisting getting into too much detail as it is important to obtain the light in the painting first. Just my way of working. I hope you all enjoy the progress. My best wishes to you all.
