Zebras Rest

Zebras Rest

Title: Zebras Rest

Zebras Rest is inspired from my days in Kenya visiting the Masai Mara. It is an incredible journey these animals take from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara and back. A never ending migration. Zebras Rest is just a glimpse of this wildlife marvel, an impression burned into the memory forever.  A group of Zebra come to rest but for a moment under the shade of an acacia tree grove, sheltering from the hot sun. A small water hole where the reflections from the negative space of the carving can be seen along with the coppery highlights of the water, a precious oasis for the thirsty zebra. The dried grass in the foreground hints at the ever present need to migrate to greener plains.  Blue sky hinting at the passing of the rains, pressing the journey onwards for the zebra.
